I will work collaboratively with you, providing empathy, and use a mindfully-based approach to access your inner wisdom to develop the skills needed for responding to life's stresses. Issues that are defined by you are addressed with the goal of decreasing symptoms, increasing healthy coping skils, improving interpersonal communication, and developing a more mindful awareness and alignment of mind/body/spirit.
"It is possible to live happily in the here and how. So many conditions of happiness are available, more than enough for you to be happy right now. You don't have to run into the future in order to get more." Thich Nhat HanhThe practice of mindfulness in my integrative approach to psychotherapy and yoga supports reflection in the moment about your thoughts, feelings, and body sensations without passing judgment. It allows you to be objective in dealing with life's challenges, releasing negative thoughts and creating postive choices for yourself. Mindfulness is an evidenced-based treatment for depression, anxiety, chronic pain and other physical problems. It supports you in accessing your own inner wisdom for transformation and healing.
"Between stimulus and response there is a space. In that space is our power to choose our response. In our response lies our growth and our freedom." Viktor FranklI began my practice of yoga over 40 years ago. Yoga continues to bring me peace and a healthy sense of well-being. I became a registered Deep Yoga teacher through the Yoga Alliance in 2008 and completed a Deep Yoga Vedic Therapy Training in 2013. I have additional certifications in Pranayama or breathing techniques to reduce anxiety or depression and chair yoga. Deep Yoga is a gentle yogic system based upon Hatha Yoga and Ayurveda that goes deeply into the mind/body/spirit connection. I believe that yoga can be a portal to the wisdom of the body where all of our experiences and feelings are embedded. Yoga can take you to a deep state of relaxation, transforming you on many levels. When your physical and emotional bodies are in alignment, when the unconscious becomes more conscious, then you can be more creative and connected to who you really are.
